It’s slim, beautiful and very efficient – it simply has everything you need for a mobile secretary. I just got my hands on the Nokia E72, used it and compared it to Nokia N97 Mini and Nokia N900 and I must say that I instantly fell in love with it.

The Nokia E72

Released in November 2009, the Nokia E72 is sequel smartphone to Nokia’s smash hit, E71. Nokia has added and upgraded pretty extensive features on this device compared to the E71. Notable new features include the optical navi key (just like the ones you see on newer Blackberries like Curve 8520), 3.5 mm jack (so you can use your favorite headphones/earphones) and Accelerometer sensor. Below are some more features of the device:

Other New features

  • Symbian OS 9.3, Series 60 v3.2 UI, Feature Pack 2.
  • USB charging
  • Active noise cancellation
  • Magnetometer sensor
  • Digital compass
  • RDS support
  • PictBridge
  • 5-Megapixel Camera

Upgrades

  • 12 hours of talktime(2G) instead of the E71’s 10hrs (2G).
  • Tri-band UMTS / HSDPA / HSUPA instead of Dual-band
  • HSDPA support of up to 10.2 Mbps instead of 3.6
  • Added HSUPA at 2.0 Mbps
  • Improved CPU clock speed to 600 MHz
  • Real time Push e-mail HTML
  • 5 Megapixel camera (up from 3.2)

Although Nokia positioned the E72 as a business smartphone rather than a multimedia-centric device, it never failed to amaze and impress me when I used its multimedia features like the camera and players. Of course, having a 5-megapixel camera with AF capability in my pocket made this phone stand on par among its same-variant competitors like Blackberry, Samsung and Palm (Pixi). Nokia has indeed did a pretty good job in making this phone a “sulit” (worth it) one.

Compared to its predecessor, the E72 boasts a faster processor (600 MH.z ARM11) thus making it capable of running applications very smoothly. I didn’t feel any lag while navigating the menu and using its pre-installed application like SMS, Photo Album and games.
