Nokia N8, the best (so far) of the NSeries. The top of the line phone of Nokia has its own features and it has truly a specific distinction from all other Nokia phones. Let’s see if the phone is really a best buy or is it really a burn from your pocket. The review will feature its hardware, specifically the ram, and camera. Also, I will review its updated Symbian^3 operating system and Ovi Applications installed in the new flagship smartphone of Nokia.

HARDWARE

The Nokia N8 holds a 1200 mAh Li-Ion battery. After a week of examining this device, I can personally tell that the battery can last 2 and half days with a full use on it. Now when I say ‘full use’, it is a text messaging 12 hours a day, playing games for at least an hour and 10 to 15 phone calls. It really wowed me for realizing that the phone battery of Nokia N8 is a beast!

Nokia N8

THE RAM

Now there are some speculations that when it comes to RAM, Nokia sucks. However, I don’t totally agree to these angry speculations. The RAM of Nokia N8 holds 512 256 mb and when you compare N8 to N97, you will immediately pull out N97 because definitely, the response time of N8 is far better than the latter.  Moreover, the Nokia N8 has a 1 ghz 680  MHz processor – totally a great help to pull of the performance of its operating system and other features.

Nokia N8

CAMERA

Now, let’s move on with something special. Nokia released, for the first time, a whopping 12 megapixels camera! Amazing and legen….(wait for it)…. dary!  With its 12- megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics, the Nokia N8 is truly a delight for all the photographers. I will give you some examples of photos using the Nokia N8 and the judgment is yours if it is epic or not.

The camera of Nokia N8 captures a High Definition video with 720p 25 frames per second.  You can even playback your videos using your HDTV by plugging in your HDMI cable to N8’s HDMI socket. Pretty neat, indeed! Again, because of its highest megapixel capability, I can say that the video is both crispy and sharp.

SOFTWARE

SYMBIAN^3 (Yeah, with ^)

Oh yes people, Nokia N8 has the new operating system that Nokia recently developed, the Symbian^3.  My point of comparison here is my phone, Nokia N97 Mini, which has an operating system of Symbian S60 version 5. Contrastingly, the Symbian^3 is far far better than the Symbian S60 devices.  Yes, the changes are many but the usual impression, class and originality of Symbian are not that far off.

In Symbian^3, you can playback High Definition videos, personalize 3 pages of your home screens and experience the all-new multitask manager. Nokia devices are famous about its multitasking ability, so maybe Nokia creatively developed this multitasking ability for the fans.

OVI Applications

The Ovi Store features different applications recommended for Nokia N8. With its High Definition capability, the games are 3D generated graphics and some of the games like Need for Speed Shift use the accelerometer capability of the phone.  When I played the game, it felt fast and furious.

RATING

Over here is my all-new rating and description type of verdict. Every time I review a device, I will post my comments and rating to the table and after the rating, I will average it and that will tell my rating for the whole.

Camera: [Rating:5/5]

Nokia N8’s Camera is truly amazing and epic. Goodjob Nokia!

Ram: [Rating:3/5]

The RAM of N8 is not the best and but not the worst. For the first time, users of a Symbian phone, they will surely enjoy the speed and crispness of the graphics

Operating System: [Rating:3.5/5]

It is far better than the Symbian S60. However, it slows down the phone itself so that’s why I give it a 3.5.

Ovi Applications: [Rating:4/5]

The great thing about Ovi is that it’s free and it’s convenient. Another great factor for the buyers of Nokia.
