The iPhone 5 will surely be announced on September 12 and I cannot resist on blogging about the things we expect to be announced that day. So here you go guys, a full round-up of what to expect on September 12 and beyond especially to Apple fanatics in the Philippines. Note though that some information in this round-up are based on rumor, personal analysis based on tech sources and facts.

iDevices To Be Announced

The iPhone 5

The 6th iteration of the world’s famous Apple device will finally be unveiled on the 12th (that’ll past midnight of the 13th here in the Philippines). Personally, I am due for subscription renewal on Globe. I got my iPhone 4 with Globe last September 2010 and I was advised by their CSR to call them on September 22 to inform them if I wish to not renew my plan (and make the big switch). I have not yet decided on this matter – but one thing is definite: I AM GETTING THE iPhone 5.

The iPhone 5 or the New iPhone will not look like the iPhone 4 and 4s. Tinthe.vn leaked the supposed new look of the device and netizens went crazy over its new design. Launching a similar look of the latter devices will not be good for Apple and will eventually drag the stock price of Apple due to worldwide negative reaction of consumers. I do not want to be too technical but take a look at the case of iPhone 3G and 3Gs. Stock Price of Apple when the iPhone 3G was launched was 172.58. A year later, Apple launched the 3Gs – a much improved version of the 3G. Stock Price was that time  was 139.48. That’s 18% loss. It was probably a matter of timing. Consumers were probably thinking of a much better design, improvement on signal and overheating problems. Well, let me also include the fact that the economy in 2009 in the US was really very bad.

The case of iPhone 4 and 4s was not a fluke. It was a successful launch (or rather a relaunch of the iPhone 4) because of perfect timing. Most phone subscription plans are locked in for 2 years. Those who availed the iPhone 3G and 3Gs in the 2009 were mostly the ones who initially got the iPhone 4s in 2011. The impending launch of the iPhone 5 this year will pave the way for those who got the iPhone 3Gs and iPhone 4 to upgrade.

This drove me to assume that the rumors that Globe Telecom might be one of the telecom companies in Asia to get the iPhone 5 probably in the last week of September or October. I don’t know much about how telecoms deal with Apple but I would assume that Globe paid a huge amount of moolah to make them one of the 1st telecoms to launch the new device here in Asia. But hey, if Globe can do such, it’s highly even possible for Smart to do it too.

Features expected to be on the new iPhone via Cult of Mac:
