Apple Store is Down, Just in Time for the iPad Mini Launch?

The Apple Store Philippines is now down and I couldn’t help but think of the probable reasons:

Apple Store

  • Is the New iPad going to be relaunched with a Lightning connector? [via 9to5.mac]
  • Will the iPad Mini debut during their event later? [via iMore.com]
  • Is Apple going to announce the next iteration of the Apple TV?
  • How about Mac Mini?
  • And yes, a 13″ Macbook Pro with Retina display?

In my opinion, if all these rumor would turn out to be true, ten tonight’s pre-Black Friday and pre-Cyber Monday event would be bigger than the iPhone 5 launch. [Watch LIVE STREAM here on your iPhone, iPod or iPad.]

Relaunching the New iPad would be a bad idea.

I share a bit of indifference towards the rumor that Apple would relaunch the new iPad mini with Lightning Connector. I do not think that it’s viable unless they drop its price. Wait, no – even if they drop its price, I still do not think that it will work as most of the current accessories and docks for the new iPad are only compatible with the 30-pin connector.

How about if the relaunched-new-iPad is faster? Then in that case, Apple has already succumbed to minor case stagnancy – they are starting to run out of creative juices. Don’t get me wrong: I am an Apple fan, but I cannot bear seeing Apple falling in love with the same design for 2 consecutive years!

iPad Mini is Going to be KING

The rumored iPad Mini won’t be a game changer but it will definitely eat a lot of the market share of Android Tablets, Amazon Kindles and Barnes and Noble Nooks. So, yes – if this indeed happens later during the launch – Apple’s move to miniaturize the iPad is a great idea.

How about those who bought the 5″ iPod Touch? Should they cry and have buyer’s remorse? ‘Not entirely’, because at the end of the day, what matters most is answering the question – how do you intend to use your device? If you bought an iPod Touch because you thought that it could be a great alternative to PS Vita, then you shouldn’t have buyer’s remorse. But, if you bought one because you intend to primarily use it as an eBook reader and a means to be productive (like retouching photos, type articles and create stunning Keynote presentations), then you might have a bit of a problem. You don’t want to bring 2 devices that have almost similar functions, but only differ in size, right?

Apple TV, Mac Mini and 13″ Macbook Pro with Retina Display

Yeah right – as if these devices are new. These are basically iterations unless Apple decides to introduce certain innovations like:

  • Apple TV that is built in to a 24″, 32″ and 42″ Retina Display screens
  • Supercharged Mac Minis
  • Macbook Pro with Retina Display with… nah! [I couldn’t think of any innovation]

You may have probably noticed – I ranted more than praised Apple in this article. To me, Apple will ultimately lose its flair unless they innovate incessantly. What’s next after the iPad or the iPad mini? Will I see something really new once Apple Store comes back online? Or shall I wait for another 4 months?
