Great sound can come from small package!
I was very excited to open the Capdase Beat Soho when I received it last month. The device’s retail packaging was quite simple but it did not matter to me as I was more eager to hear how this tiny bluetooth speaker can do and how loud the sound it can give off. If you’re a fan of seeing unboxing photos, feast your eyes with the pictures below. In package, there is included 3.5mm/Mini-USB-Cable that could help you charge Beat SOHO or connect it with your device.
Build/Design
The Beat Soho was elegantly designed. Its cylindrical build and considerable heft give the Soho solid and aesthetically pleasing characteristics. The speaker grill can be seen on top, which neatly hides and keeps main speaker’s gasket, cone and other innards.
A matte with almost rubbery texture cylindrical heavy-duty steel enclosure protects its internal components. You will find Volume/Music Controls, BT/Sleep/Wake/AUX switches and LED light that emits blue, orange, red and green colors just below the enclosure. You will also find the Charger port/AUX in just at the back of the aforementioned switches.
I find it also quite novel for Capdase to wrap the speaker’s base with rubber to avoid displacement due to rumbling and sound-thumps.
Performance
The Soho is just the perfect companion for my Galaxy Note 2, iPhone 5 and even my laptop. I took this with me during my last trip abroad and it literally saved me from boring nights in my hotel room. The Note 2’s speakers are okay, but the bluetooth-connected Beat Soho just gives off better stereo sounds with audible bass.
Just for your information, the device has Bluetooth V2.1 + EDR technology that can allow you to wirelessly stream your music up to 10m from Smartphone or laptop. It is also built-in Lithium battery, which in our experience lasted for 7 hours total. Charging is quite fast too – at approximately 1.5 hours using my Galaxy Note 2 charger.
Verdict
The Beat Soho is perfect for business travelers and for those who want to show off their latest music tracks or downloaded movies. It may be too small for a speaker, but you will really be surprised to experience the quality of sound it gives off.
It retails for Php 1950 and is available at Quicksound, Astrovision, Astroplus, Powerhub, Beyond the Box, Digital Walker, Digital Hub, SMAppliance Center Makati, and and SM Appliance Center Fairview.
