One of the most sought after online stores, Widget City, started offering the phone with highest level of water-resistance for capturing photos and Full HD videos underwater, the Xperia ZR.
Water-proof or Water-resistant?
Just like Xperia Z, the Xperia ZR is built to withstand being submerged in 1.5 meters of fresh water for up to 30 minutes. The ZR however is categorized as water-proof rather water-resistant. According to Sony’s PR materials, the ZR is IP55/IP58 compliant, making Xperia Z’s younger brother a water-proof device rather than being water-resistant (IP55/IP57 compliant).
Although not really meant for shooting pictures under water (in 1.5 meters), Sony made sure that it’s easier to take pictures with its dedicated camera button. This is something that Xperia Z does not have.
Stunning Screen and Amazing Camera
Apart from its being a water-proof device, also has a 4.6” HD display. You will have an unmatched viewing experience on this device. Thanks to its Reality Display with Mobile BRAVIA Engine 2 for sharp and bright viewing experience.
To complete its media features, this device can take stunning photos and videos with its 13-megapixel rear camera with a custom sensor, Exmor RS for mobile.
It’s Your Cheaper Alternative to Xperia Z
If you’re looking for a cheaper alternative to Xperia Z, the ZR is your best bet. For your comparison, here are the notable similarities and differences of the 2 devices:
- Both devices have the same chipset – Qualcomm Snapdragon APQ8064 (Quad-core 1.5 GHz Krait and Adreno 320).
- The secondary camera of ZR is only VGA, while Xperia Z has 2.2 MP and can shoot 1080p@30fps.
- Xperia ZR (4.6″) has a smaller build compared to Xperia Z (5″). Naturally, the former is lighter than the latter.
- ZR’s internal memory is only 8gb; Z has 16gb.
The Price is Definitely Right!
Xperia ZR is available tomorrow, July 7, at Widget City for an awesome price of PhP22,990.
We just can’t wait to try this out. We have already requested Widget City to reserve us one unit so we can review one!
