Omnipad R72 Unboxing and Review
The box contains the following:
- Omnipad R72 Tablet
- Headset
- Micro USB Cable
- User Manual
- Warranty Card
Although the box of the R72 is quite bulky, the packaging is really good. The colors of NEO is really standing out. You will see the photo of the unit in front of the box and the full specifications at the back of it. All the accessories inside the box are well sealed in a single packaging.
Impressions
The features and specifications of the R72 may not appeal appeal and entice tech savvy consumers; but this is a good choice for first time tablet buyers.
The Omnipad R72 is not really designed for gaming, so please do not expect that you will be able to play your favorite games like Real Racing 3, NBA 2K13 and Sine Mora. On a consumer’s point of view, when it comes to a budget friendly tablet like the R72, this could be their best bet.
It is pre installed with Kingsoft Office wherein you can view, edit documents (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and save it. It can be a good alternative to netbooks. USB OTG keyboard works on this device, and it almost felt like I was using a laptop. In fact, I have written two of my previous articles in this device.
Camera
The Omnipad R72 is equipped with a 2.oMP rear camera and 0.3MP front camera. The camera performed satisfactorily when used in bright lights. It didn’t fare well when I took photos on semi-low light environment as expected. Since it is not designed for taking high resolution photos, I think the main function of the camera is taking photo notes for documentation purposes and video chats.
Benchmark Scores
Battery Life is comparable to other tablets. Since it is running on Stock Anroid software, it does not have any other bloatwares running on the background. For a normal use (web browsing, facebook, twitter, document viewing), the tablet’s power could last up to more than a day. Surprisingly it lasted for more than 2 days at 30% remaining on the battery.
NEO Care
The Omnipad R72 has a warranty called – NEO Care. With NEO Care, the customer just needs to call 1-800-10-5311671 (531-1671 for Greater Metro Manila area) if they need technical support. A NEO Technical Expert will identify and troubleshoot if there are problems with the unit. Afterwards, a pick-up schedule will be agreed upon by both the NEO Technical Expert and the customer. Within seven working days from the day of pick-up, a replacement/repaired unit will be sent to the customer.
Verdict
As mentioned earlier, the gaming capability is not that impressive. That’s expected from a low-end tablet like the R72. Productivity wise, the Omnipad R72 can deliver at respectable quality. At the price of Php3,999, I guess this entry level tablet might be worth buying.
