First Impressions

We unboxed, reviewed and owned a Flare 1.0 before so we can’t help but compare it to the latest Flare.

Flare vs Flare 2.0

Flare vs Flare 2.0

Flare 1.0 and Flare 2.0 have notable hardware and software differences. Flare 2.0 is a little bigger than its predecessor. The newer Flare looks and feels much better as well. Cherry Mobile retained the screen size of Flare – 4.0″ IPS capacitive display with 480 x 800 display resolution. It isn’t Dragontrail so I highly recommend that you take good care of its screen.

Flare 2.0 Screen

Flare 2.0 has a bigger battery capacity – a bump of 50 more mAh. The latest Qualcomm processor (MSM8225Q) installed on Flare 2.0 is optimized to consume less energy. Thus, it’s very possible that the additional juice on Flare 2.0’s battery is enough to get the phone going for a day at regular usage.

The latest flare has a dual LED flash, which is powerful enough to assist you in producing better photos in less lighted rooms or places. Still, taking photos using natural light is better, but  Flare 2.0’s non-BSI 5mp camera isn’t good enough during our initial tests. We shall test this extensively on our full review after a couple of weeks.

Flare 2.0 camera

Perhaps, one of the best things that Flare 2.0 has is its operating system. It is installed with Android 4.1.2 Jellybean, preloaded with some Cherry Mobile applications and customized icons (just like Flare 1.0). It performed good (fast and lag free), thanks to the synergy of its Qualcomm processor and Jellybean’s Project Butter. This is something that we expected highly when Cherry Mobile launched this device last September 20.

We have gather all the information that you may need if you wish to look at the specs of Flare 1.0 and Flare 2.0. Check out the tablet below for your reference.
