We received this O+ Fab 3G last week from their marketing manager and we’re blown away by its size, premium build and price! We’d like to share our thoughts with you, which might help you in your purchase decision.

Anyway, here are some pictures we took while unboxing the device.

The retail box of Fab 3G contains the following:

  • 7″ Tablet with Phone Functionality
  • Charger
  • Charging Cable
  • MicroUSB Cable
  • 3.5mm Stereo Headphones
  • Manual

Fab 3G is an entry-level tablet with phone and data (via 3G) functionality. This is a good deal for mobile users, who are more comfortable in bringing only a device that can do everything from productivity to calling.

As mentioned, you can use this tablet to call or send SMS to your friends. You can only put 1 SIM on this tablet though. It’s 3G capable, so you can surf the internet via data plan (prepaid or postpaid). It would’ve been better though if this is HSPA+ capable. Thankfully, your saving grace is that you can surf the net via Wifi. So, if you have a decent wireless connection at home, then you won’t have any problems in terms of internet speed

The device has a 7″ Capacitive TFT touchscreen display. It displays media and other contents decently, but you shouldn’t expect that the quality will rock your world.

The device is powered by 1 GHz Dual Core ARM Cortex A7-based MediaTek MT6577 processor. I find this processor as the most used processor in most entry level devices. It has a 1GB RAM, which I find perfectly enough for multitasking and playing games. It also has an 8gb internal storage, which is a big plus for app-o-holics like me. And if you think that the internal storage isn’t enough, Fab 3G supports micro SD up to 32gb.

If you’re into taking (and editing, then posting to Instagram) pictures, you can snap your fave subject with the tablet’s 5 mp rear facing camera with BSI and AF. That should be enough if you’re going to snap landscapes, frogs, food (really? frogs and then food?), your partner, etc. And if you’re a selfie or groupie addict, the device’s 2 mp camera in front is ready to indulge you.

And guess what? No, you don’t have to guess anything! The device is installed with Android 4.1.2 Jellybean, so you’re assured that the Android ecosystem and vast application line can help you get by your day without succumbing to boredom. We’ll discuss more of this on our full review.

Here’s the full specifications and features of Fab 3G for your reference:

Fab 3G is now available for only PhP7,995. This may still be premature to say, but you may want to consider in getting this device if you’re looking for an entry-level tablet. Yes, this only has a dual-core processor, but you will seldom find an 8,000-worth tablet that can let you call and text from a company with an extensive R&D process.
