I am a big fan of Otterbox cases. As a matter of fact, I own an Otterbox Armor for iPhone 5, which works as advertised. Just last November 12, the famous global brand launched yet another case for the iPhone 5 and iPhone 5s – the Otterbox Commuter Series Wallet.

The said case comes with complete and discrete storage, which allows quick access to important cards and cash to simplify users’ daily commute and protect the phone at the same time. It may not be as “protective” as the Armor series, but it definitely looks sleeker and useful.

The Commuter Series Wallet allow users to just simply grab their essentials and go, whenever and wherever they want!

First Impressions:

The case is light compared to other Otterbox cases I’ve used. Of course, as a commuter, it does a good job in keeping commuting essentials such as paper money and cards. Unfortunately, the case can only hold up to 3 cards or 2 cards and 1 bill. I was also not able to put calling cards (standard size) on the drawer.

One of the good things about this case is its front-facing access drawer. Unlike the Targus Wallet Case, Otterbox made sure that your items are for your eyes only. I like the fact that I can hear a ‘click’ when closing the drawer, which assures me that the latter is locked and I will not lose anything.

There are times though that the case (and yes, including my phone) almost slipped of my hand when trying to open and even the drawer with one hand. This is quite disappointing as I normally use my phone with one hand… even while commuting.

The case looks very elegant. Its design mimic an excellent blend of faux leather and rubber. The interior slip cover layer cushion that wrap around the phone doesn’t feel and look cheap. As it isn’t enough to protect the phone, the exterior hard shell layer is robust enough to protect the phone from drops, bumps and shocks. Yes, it can take a lot of beating; an added insurance to your phone.

Don’t you dare soak your phone on water as this case won’t make your phone water proof. The rubber port covers can only keep dirt and debris getting in your phone, but it can neither repel nor protect your phone from water.
