Cherry Mobile Releases Another Quadcore with a high definition screen 12mp camera 1GB of RAM, Cherry Mobile Apollo. Some news in the Group said that the Cherry Mobile Apollo is an OEM copy of CUBOT GT99. Cherry Mobile Apollo 11

The Look

The 4.5 inch Cherry Mobile Apollo smartphone form factor is like a regular chocolate box. It is made with a polycarbonate plastic for the body and a more glossy type for the removable back plate. The whole phone is fingeprint magnet. Hopefully, Cherry Mobile will release accessories which are not finger print magnets. Cherry Mobile Apollo 8 The button and port are mostly located on the top. The Power Lock button, micro USB port, and headphone jack are on the side where the volume rocker is located. And the best about the structure of this phone is it has a LED Notification Light but sadly it is only available in blue color. The Performance

Cherry Mobile Apollo runs Android 4.2 Jelly Bean out of the box with a 1.2GHz quad core MediaTek MTK6589 processor, PowerVR SGX 544MP graphics processor and 1GB of RAM and it gives me a result of 12038 on Antutu Benchmark. It has the usual 4GB of internal storage with 1GB free for the user to store music, videos, photos and other files. A microSD slot is also expandable up to 32GB.

The Camera

The Cherry Mobile Apollo rear camera impressed me for taking pictures and shooting videos. However, if the lighting is too bright, the rear camera has a hard time focusing in lowlight. Hopefully Cherry Mobile can fix it with Software Update. The 12 megapixel camera at the back is surprisingly great in taking photos!

The 5 Megapixel camera in front however is quite disappointing. Both are said to be autofocus and with BSI sensor. I’ve noticed that the Cherry Mobile Apollo has a better camera result than the Cherry Mobile Omega HD, which is more expensive by a few bucks.

Here some sample shots using Cherry Mobile Apollo:

Connectivity

Apollo has dual sim capability but only SIM one can connect to 3G networks. Apollo can reach HSPA+ speeds offering fast mobile internet access. It runs Bluetooth 4.0, allowing it to enjoy Bluetooth connectivity without draining battery too much. During my tests I got an Error NVRAM WARNING: ERR = x10 when I turned on my WiFi. Apparently there is a hex error which should be fixed via software update.

Battery

I’m extremely impressed with the battery of cherry mobile Apollo. It has 2,000mah 200 higher than written in the box which can last you for days.

Verdict

The Cherry Mobile Apollo is one of the best smartphones under 7,000PHP. It has a strong and reliable performance. Its rear facing camera is impressive, and it just put more value to your money – especially if you’re looking for a phone that can double as a good point-and-shoot camera alternative.
