. The new service enables users and Sky Cable subscribers to watch over 1000 hours of uncut award-winning HBO and Cinemax original content on computers, tablets and smartphones anytime, anywhere. This means that you can conveniently watch Game of Thrones, True Detective, Girls 12 hours after they premiere in the US.


Conversely, the said service opens HBO’s collection of original movies, concerts, documentaries and series, including complete seasons of all time favorites such as Sex and the City, Band of Brothers, The Pacific, The Sopranos and the Entourage. While subs are allowed to register up to 3 devices, the service wouldn’t allow users to simultaneous watch movies using all devices.


According to HBO Asia CEO, Jonathan Spink, who happened to be in the event, “HBO Go helps combat piracy and gives subscribers an opportunity to catch the newest episodes of their favorite HBO shows earlier.” This was later supported by SKYCable COO, Ray Montenola.


The service works best on a 1.9MB/sec connection – the minimum being 500 Kb/sec for mobile devices and 1 Mb/sec for all other devices – HBO Go cleverly adjusts to the speed of your broadband connection to ensure an optimum viewing experience.
The event was graced by HBO brand ambassadors, Pia, Saab and Maxene Magalona. During the interview, Maxene said that she’s thrilled that HBO allows her to watch her favorite shows like True Detective and Newsroom anytime and anywhere. She also quipped that it the service even allows her to get tips from award-winning actors by watching and re-watching critically acclaimed shows and original HBO movies. Saab, on the other hand, said that she looks forward to being the first to watch the latest season of Game of Thrones 12 hours it premieres in the US. Meanwhile, their mom, Pia Magalona, is assured that the content on HBO Go is award-winning pedigree content that only HBO can offer.


The HBO Go is free for SKYcable subscribers of the HBO PAK. Subscribers of the basic HBO channel on SKYCable can subscribe to HBO Go by adding PhP199/month to their monthly bill.
