Just this evening, May 5, 2014 we were invited by market-leading economy mobile device innovator DTC to witness the contract signing of their first brand ambassadors and their plans for 2014. The event was held at an exclusive media event at the Diamond Hotel in Manila.
Introduced during the event are Rain or Shine shooting guard Ryan Araña, Air 21 point guard Simon Atkins, Talk ‘N Text power forward Rommel Niño “KG” Canaleta, 3-time PBA All-Star Meralco Bolts shooting guard Gary David, and 11-time PBA All-Star Redbull point guard Willie Miller. Their addition as their pioneer ambassadors is expected to bring DTC closer to its consumers as they symbolize active but practical living, which DTC consumers also exemplify.
During the event, Ferdinand Buensalida Jr., General Manager for DTC, elaborated that the partnership ultimately builds the brand’s strong commitment to customer satisfaction through the power of innovative technology and human ingenuity.
The event was also an opportune time for DTC to announce their plans for 2014. In the pipeline are phones packed with better and fast processor, like the DTC GT21 Extreme and the ultra slim and fast DTC 17A Jupiter Plus.
DTC GT21 Extreme Specifications:
- Android 4.2 Jellybean
- 5.0″ QHD IPS Display
- 13mp Rear Camera
- 2mp Front Camera
- Octa Core 1.7 GHz Processor
- 32gb Internal Memory
- 1gb RAM
- 2000mAh battery
- 7.9mm slim design
- GP Guestimate: PhP12,999
It is still a bit unclear why the upcoming Octa-core device of DTC has 5.0″ QHD IPS display. If we are “guestimate” it today, we’re pegging the price at PhP12,999. If DTC launches this a bit later than June 2014, then they should really price it accordingly – a bit closer or less expensive than Cherry Mobile’s Octa-core devices.
DTC GT17A Jupiter Plus Specifications:
- Android 4.2.1 Jellybean
- 4.7″ HD IPS Display
- 13mp Rear Camera
- 3.2mp Front Camera
- Quad Core 1.2Ghz Processor (MT6589 1.2Ghz with PowerVR SGX544 @ 286 MHz GPU)
- 8gb Internal Memory
- 1gb RAM
- 2200mAh battery
- 9.00mm slim design
- Official Price: PhP7,999
Like its predecessor, GT17A Jupiter Plus features a 9.3mm slim design, making it one of the thinnest smartphones in the Philippines to date. Its pocket-friendly build makes it a pleasurable and fab device to carry around.
It isn’t all about aesthetics though as it boasts a quad core processor and 1GB ram. DTC didn’t specify the model of its SoC, but our guess is as good as yours – Mediatek 6589 1.2Ghz with PowerVR SGX544 @286 MHz GPU). It’s a very familiar SoC, but enclosed in a phone with slimmer build and less expensive price point.
