The 5th sequel to the well received Modern Combat 4 is now available on the AppStore, Windows Store and PlayStore. Finally mobile FPS players would get a chance to play to this game and get amazed with its all new story and graphics enhancement.
Speaking of story, this latest installment is set in Venice where the main character, Phoenix, is sent to secure a group of people from a terrorist group. While I find the plot too ordinary, I’m more excited with the progression system the developers from Gameloft has install for all players. By unified progress, this means that each player mission or multiplayer match will earn experience points to go towards leveling-up solider classes and mastering new weapons. Well, that sounds like how Call of Duty and the latest Plants vs Zombies Garden Warfare have its level progression system.
Players would also get a chance to play as an Assault, Sniper, Heavy or Recon. The soldier classes mentioned are all playable across single and multiplayer modes.
The game is made let players enjoy both the single player campaigns or multiplayer. If you wish to play the former, Gameloft made sure that the campaigns are engaging and “sulit”. It also has all-new Spec-Ops missions, which are short, fun and objective-driven like covering your alies, clearing the room, eliminate the target and much more. Such tasks remind me of Metal Gear Solid VR missions, minus the VR. The latter – multiplayer – is equally engaging as the new Modern Combat has 6 vs 6 multiplayer squad matches. There is also global and squad chat so you can plan easily with your squad mates and ultimately bring your opponents down to their knees.
If you’re after graphics and if you want to maximize the potential of your device, you’ll be happy to know that MC5 is built to amaze you. The visual effects are highly improved in this latest iteration as it has better shadows, ragdoll physics and SSAO or Screen Space Ambient Occlusion. Of course, all of these are highly evident if you’re using a mobile device with high-end GPU.
Time to install it now on my Nvidia Shield and Nexus 7 to try game out! Have you bought this game already? It’s about time you click that buy button on your favorite games store.
