LINE Character Triumphs Over Others at Most Prestigious Licensing Awards in Asia

LINE FRIENDSWho said quirky and funky messaging characters can’t win over other brand characters?

In LIMA Asian Licensing Awards and Asian Licensing Awards 2014, ‘LINE FRIENDS’ has the two of the most prestigious licensing awards in Hong Kong, the LIMA Asian Licensing Awards and Asian Licensing Awards. ‘LINE FRIENDS’ includes Brown, Cony, Sally, Leonard, James, Jessica, Boss and Edward.

The said characters were first used in LINE messenger, a popular messaging app in Asia. Eventually, LINE FRIENDS was reborn as character merchandise with over 3,300 items, such as clothing, stationary and household products, which are loved by a lot of people! You probably saw a LINE FRIENDS-themed Uniqlo shirt and a truckload of other stuff with the lovable characters in it. Oh, and yes – there are stuff toys too!

Just one day after bagging the Best Asian Property of the Year award, LINE FRIENDS yet again got another Best Asian Property award from Asian Licensing Awards (ALA) hosted by Hong Kong Trade Development Council. The award is given to brands with the most prominent achievement over the past year. Way to go, LINE!

In a statement given by LINE’s Section Manager of LINE Philippines, “Winning both LIMA and ALA is such a great honor as they are considered as the Oscar Awards of the character business. To return the love we have received from our fans, we will continue to offer more variety of LINE FRIENDS products in many more places around the world.”
