In the effort of bringing digital television to more people, Starmobile launched Starmobile Knight Vision a week ago, which features an ISDB-T certified technology or Digital TV. The said technology has been around but the regulation and standardization were just passed last December 2014. Based on the IRR and diretives from NTC, the move from Analog to Digital must be done by broadcasting companies within the year. In this regard, compliance to the directive applies to all broadcasters.

This year, Starmobile conducted series of tests to see the quality and signal strength of major TV channels in Metro Manila. Based on the result of the tests, broadcasting giants, ABS-CBN and TV5 lead in signal quality, while GMA7 tops in coverage presence.

According to Starmobile Product Development Head, Michael Chen, “This is a 100% independent and consumer-centric test which we feel should be known by the public especially with the on-going shift from Analog to Digital broadcast. We will continue to conduct DTV tests nationwide so that we could better assess the proliferation of this technology.”

During the test, Starmobile used Knight Vision, a PhP9,999 ISDB-T certified smartphone.

The DTV variant of Knight is now available. You can easily buy one by visiting their kiosks and branches so you can enjoy the digital TV features of the phone. The future of TV is bright with digital TV, and jumping into its hype now isn’t actually bad at all.
