Last May 3, we were invited by Mac Power to watch the iconic fight between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather. The fight was disappointing and controversial, but we were thankful for the experience and the awesome food at Burger Lab near SM Mall of Asia. During that time, Mac Power, also introduced the products they are bringing over to the Philippines: Unu, Pinlo, Woodford, Felix, Belkin and Fluxmob.
One of the products, which really caught our attention was Fluxmob Bolt. It is the world’s smallest combination of battery backup and wall charger. To a parlance familiar to us, Fluxmob Bolt is basically a charger and powerbank in one device. Why didn’t anyone think of this before? Fluxmob Bolt is a stroke of genius.
One thing you’d notice about Bolt is its pocket-friendly size and Lego-like features. In fact, it can easily be mistaken as a toy; even my son thought it was a combined replica of lapis lazuli and stone blocks from Minecraft. Its soft touch rubberized finish also has a great feel to it. In the design department, Bolt is beautiful and it’s undeniably one of the great things about it.
As a wall charger, Bolt has a folding plug, which does not look off in any way. Just below its etched model name lies 4 dots, which shows the charge and power status of Bolt; and and another dot, which indicates if it’s charging a device or it is being charged. Below these dots is the power button, which may be pressed to see Bolt’s status.
- 4 Blue LEDs: 75%-100%
- 3 Blue LEDs: 50-75%
- 2 Blue LEDs: 25-50%
- 1 Blue LED: 25%
During our tests, Bolt was able to charge our iPhone 6 Plus from 35% to 65% in 45 minutes. From 100% charge status (4 Blue LEDs), Bolt lost about 50% of its juice for giving our iPhone 6 Plus a 35% energy recharge.

2 things are basically happening when Bolt is plugged in as a wall charger for a device: (1) it charges the device, and; (2) it charges itself (since it’s also a powerbank). Don’t worry about overcharging the Bolt as it has a smart chip that prevents it from overcharging. It is also design to charge any device that draws power from USB. But there were instances that we had to press its button to manually charge the attached device.
Overall, Fluxmob Bolt is a very efficient and useful device especially for people who are always on the go. If you’re on the lookout for a powerbank, you might want to consider getting this as it doesn’t just satisfy one need but two. It’s now available at Lazada for only PhP2,800. It also comes with a free PhP100 Starbucks Gift Certificate.

We’re excited to see more products from MacPower. Our next targets are accessories by Boompods and Woodford Quickdraw Led Lightning Cable! We just can’t wait to get our hands on these items soon!
