OPPO Philippines has been fairly aggressive lately in terms of marketing and launching few products. A couple of months ago, they launched R1x, Neo 5 and Joy Plus, which received rave and positive feedback from consumers. This time, OPPO announced that they are bring in yet another variant of Joy, Joy 3, which flaunts low to mid range specifications at an affordable standpoint.
Joy 3 comes in 2 color options: white and matte grey. Both colors look elegant in many respects but my favorite is its solid metal frame that runs around its edges. The latter gives it a more premium look and further adds to its robustness.
Joy 3 is very comfortable to hold. I could easily grasp it with just one hand, and very pocket-friendly too. Screen reachability isn’t an issue since it only has a 4.5-inch display, which occupies about 70% – 74% of its front panel ratio. It has 3 capacitive buttons – Menu, Home and Back – which are placed neatly below its screen.
Its sleep/wake button is located at its right side, while its volume rockers are placed on the left. Its microUSB port can be seen at the bottom, and its 3.5mm headphone jack is at the top.

Joy 3 has 2 cameras – a 2 megapixel camera infront and a 5 megapixel at the back. The latter has an f/2.4 aperture and flash. It is supported with OPPO’s Pure Image 2.0+ technology and Color OS camera’s quiry and fun features, which could delight mobile photography enthusiasts. At its price, Joy 3’s camera is cool but it’s devoid of autofocus, which is a bit of a letdown for me.
The device is powered by a 1.3Ghz quad-core, part of MediaTek MT6582 chipset. It has 1GB RAM and 4GB internal storage. While it doesn’t have a hefty storage – with a little over 2 gb available storage at boot – it would still be enough to access your favourite applications and play some of your favourite games.

One of the great things about Joy 3 is OPPO’s proprietary software that sits on top of Android, ColorOS 2.0. The said software brings in a couple of improvements to the already improved Android Kitkat like speed, efficient, stability and security optimizations. The software also supports several gesture, which allow users to enjoy using the phone with ease.
If you’re itching to buy the OPPO Joy 3, it is now being sold for an attractive price of PhP6,490.
