Earlier today, during an exclusive event hosted by Digits Trading, I had a glimpse of Marshall’s first ever smartphone, the Marshall London.

Marshall London 6

The smartphone was showcased by Jens Henriksen, Global Director of Sales of Marshall. During my interview with Henriksen, he said that they’re very excited to bring in the smartphone to the Philippines. He added that Marshall continues to leverage on Marshall’s brand as a brand the evokes emotions such as happiness and excitement. Marshall believes that with their wide range of products – speakers, headphones, (even) apparels, and smartphone – they are able to trigger emotions and experiences that resonate and memorable.

Announced just this month, Marshall London is pre-installed with Android Lollipop. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 410, complimented by a 2GB RAM and 16gb internal storage. Since it’s made primarily for music lovers, it is packed with music-centric features such as having two front-facing speakers, a multi-purpose single button (which bears the classic ‘M’ of Marshall) that allows to control music, scroll wheel for quick access to volume control, two line-in stereo jacks, and the ability to play high definition and uncompressed songs such as FLAC.

The smartphone also has pre-installed applications such as Loopsack that allows you to record up to 4 tracks independently at 44Khz 16bit and an upcoming DJ-App that allows budding and even professional DJs to bring and mix their tracks on the get go.

The device boasts a 4.7-inch screen, 2,500 removable battery and decent optics (8 MP AF main camera, 2MP front camera). Understandably, Marshall London doesn’t have bumped up specs because it’s primarily made to serve the function of satisfying music lovers through its customized music applications.

Having us invited for a quick preview of the device means one thing – Digits Trading and Marshall have plans to officially bring this here in the Philippines later this year early next year. When this happens, it is likely that it’ll retail for PhP23k to PhP27k.
