A new toy for the gadget savvy-on-a-budget has been born. By now, you’ve probably heard of Torque’s latest family member that comes with the name Droidz Slate HD.

Droidz Slate HD 10

From the name itself, this unit boasts features you wouldn’t easily find in today’s low-priced smartphones. As a starter, Droidz Slate HD has a 720p resolution with 267 ppi and an impressive 5.5-inch HD IPS touch display that gamers and movie/TV series lovers can appreciate. Another major reason why this smartphone deserves a chance is that it’s actually handy, thanks to its 7mm thickness.

Living up to its reputation, Droidz Slate HD lets you download and save gazillion songs, movies, and mobile applications through its 8GB internal storage which is expandable up to 32GB via MicroSD. This is really something, right? Also, it has a 1.3GHz quad core processor to work on your applications – if they are being used all at once.

Wait, I noticed that it also has an EasyTouch feature that looks like that of iPhone’s assistive touch. Sorry but I don’t think this kind of smartphone needs such feature.

Not only that, this gadget also screams a 13-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera for the selfie obsessed. I tried taking a photo of this coffee mug tand it didn’t disappoint. Amateur photographers can definitely have fun snapping photos using Droidz Slate HD. By the way, this unit also comes with a 2000 mAh Li-ion battery.

As for its connectivity, this smartphone offers GPRS (there are gadgets that still come with this kind of connection!), EDGE (this, too!), 3G and HSPA. Using Wi-Fi, I was able to browse my social media accounts without interruption so there’s no problem with its connection. And oh, it runs on Android 4.4 Kitkat so you wouldn’t have to worry about its total performance.Droidz Slate HD 9

Just like other typical smartphones, Droidz Slate HD has a dual sim feature which I find convenient for those who have too-many-to-mention contacts that you need a two different sim cards to house them.

Overall, I can say that Droidz Slate HD is one of the valuable smartphones out in the market today. At P5,449, you can’t go wrong with its performance. I highly recommend this to those who want a good smartphone but stuck with a budget. This is the one for you!
