We told you earlier that JBL launched more than half a dozen products today, and we weren’t kidding. Today at EDSA Shangrila Hotel in Mandaluyong City, Harman also officially launched the JBL Clip+ and JBL Charge 2+. Both devices are tiny compared to the other speakers officially launched today, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that they’re not big on features.
First off, there’s the JBL Clip+, which is a clear successor to the older JBL Clip. So what’s new with the Clip+? Well, mainly, a splashproof design. To be clear, it looks almost exactly the same as the original JBL Clip. But it comes with a number of improvements apart from the splashproofing that’s already been mentioned earlier.
The JBL Clip+ comes with a built-in carabineer which should “make it possible to bring music on all of your adventures,” according to the press release. Its housing is described as durable so it’s really being sold as an outdoor audio companion. It has a built-in rechargeable battery that is said to last up to 5 hours of non-stop playback.
When it comes to support for other devices, the Clip+ also has its own 3.5mm audio cable, for those times when you want to listen to music with a wired connection to your audio source.
JBL Charge 2+
Meanwhile, the JBL Charge 2+ is yet another successor, this time to the old JBL Charge 2. Like the Clip+, the Charge 2+ comes with added splashproofing so that it can withstand being used even while it’s out in the getting rained on as it blasts music in stereo. Through Bluetooth, of course.
The JBL Charge 2+ has a 6000mAh battery that can last up to 12 hours, and it can be used to charge other smart devices via a built-in USB port. It’s also equipped with a JBL Bass Radiator, which should make it much better than other speakers in its price range that don’t come with features to really pump out the bass in your music.
Pricing and availability
Both the JBL Clip+ and JBL Charge 2+ are already available through JBL-Harman Kardon concept stores and will soon be sold nationwide. The Clip+ is priced Php 2,995 while the Charge 2+ is priced Php 7,995.
