Who else but Asus Philippines would unleash not one, not two, but a total of three new hardcore gaming laptops all before the Holiday Season? And they did it at one of the country’s hottest party locations — Valkyrie Nightclub in BGC, Taguig — to boot. It was there in that rocking and truly eventful place that we witnessed the unveiling of new models in the ROG laptop line.
The ROG gaming notebooks revealed at the most recent Asus Philippines event are none other than the Asus ROG G572, Asus ROG G501, and Asus ROG GL552. All three laptops are powered by Intel’s 6th-generation Core processors and use NVIDIA GTX GPUs for all gaming-related needs. They also come preloaded with Windows 10 right out of the box. And each model is covered with a 2-year Asus “parts and services” warranty. Here’s what you need to know about the models, one by one.
The Asus ROG G572 is basically the star of the show. It’s powered by the latest Intel Core i7 processors with 4 separate cores, as well as by NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980M with up to 8GB of GDDR5 VRAM for graphics. The design is outrageous, with a built-in heat duct at the back, and the overall hardware setup gives you pretty much everything you could ever need out of a modern gaming laptop.
The main features of the Asus ROG G572 include NVIDIA’s G-Sync tech, a full-size keyboard with built-in numpad, 30-key rollover for anti-ghosting, USB 3-Type C ports, and even a built-in webcam.
The Asus ROG G572 uses a 17-inch Full HD IPS screen and relies on DDR4 RAM up to 64GB to fully maximize the ability to multitask. It’s priced at around Php 80,000.
Meanwhile, the Asus ROG G501 is a 15-inch thing of beauty, sporting a 15.6-inch QHD (3200×1800 pixels) screen with absolutely gorgeous viewing angles. It’s powered by the same kind of next-gen processors from Intel, but falls back on the NVIDIA GTX 960M for graphics. Like a true gamer’s laptop, its WASD keys are marked for easy access. And it uses SSD for storage in order to reduce transfer speeds for data.
The Asus ROG G501 is meant to offer an ultraportable hardcore gaming device on the go. For this reason, it was designed to weigh only a little over 2 kilograms and measure just 20.6mm thin.
The retail price of the Asus ROG G501 is roughly the same, even when it comes with a free gaming bag, at around Php 80,000.
Finally, there’s the Asus ROG GL552. Again, it uses the latest Intel Core i7 processors to power its drool-worthy innards, which include NVIDIA GTX 960M graphics with up to 4GB GDDR5 VRAM. Like the ROG G501, it offers a 15.6-inch screen, only this time it has a Full HD panel in tow.
The Asus ROG GL552 also boasts a 1TB + 128GB SSD combo for storage, 4GB + 4GB RAM, and a full keyboard with numpad with convenient LED backlighting. This model is by far the most affordable, price at only Php 60,000 with a free gaming bag and the Asus 2-year warranty.
So there you have the three new models that were recently added to the Asus ROG line in the Philippines. Do you have a favorite already? Which model will you be heading to the Asus Concept Stores near you around Christmas time for? Let us know in the comments!
