A couple of days ago, we received a tip that Cherry Mobile, Cubix and Lazada will make the 2nd iteration of Cubix Cube available on November 11, 2015 on November 6, 12nn.

Earlier today, we got treated by Cherry Mobile an exclusive glimpse and hands-on experience of the Cubix Cube 2 along with the other devices that are set to be available during the sale.

Cubix Cube 2 is a huge step-up from its predecessor. From aesthetics to bare hardware specifications, it isn’t difficult to laud the new device. It rocks a Mediatek 6592 SoC, which basically houses the 1.7Ghz octa-core processor, 2gb RAM and Mali 450MP GPU. This set is basically and initially responsible for the impressive performance of the device during my quick hands-on. In case you missed our hands-on video, you can take a look at it on this link (to open the YouTube App or page).

If you are into benchmark results, Cubix Cube 2 managed to reach 30,669 on Antutu. This does not define the true performance of the device, but at least, it should be able to give you an idea how it fares, at lease numbers-wise.

The phone’s user interface is pretty much bare Android, and there is very minimal skinning and pre-installed games. Browsing its app tray, homescreen, and menus is a breeze, and I didn’t feel like it stuttered while using the device. I never got the chance to play games on the Cubix Cube 2, so that’s something that we’re putting on our review bucket list.

In the build and aesthetics departments, Cubix Cube 2 does not disappoint. The device felt like the O+ Imagine (sans the glass back), but bigger and wider. The device’s steel frame gives the device a very robust look and disposition.

The device has a humongous 5.7-inch Full HD display, protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 2. Despite its big screen size (I am definitely not complaining), its screen has a PPI count of 342, which is definitely accurate at displaying vivid and clear images and videos. Below its screen are 3 capacitive buttons. Above its screen are its earpiece and an 8-megapixel front facing BSI camera. Its main microphone may be found at the bottom of the phone, while its micro-USB port is located at the top of the device.

Its 3.5mm headphone jack and secondary mic are located on the left side of the phone, while its volume rockers and sleep/wake button may be seen on its right side. The location of the buttons are rightly placed especially for phablets like the Cubix Cube 2. Bravissimo!

Cubix Cube 2’s camera can be found at the back. It’s partnered with an LED flash. The device also features 2 rear speakers: one can be found just an inch away from the LED flash, while the other one is at the bottom-right of its non-removable back panel.

Overall, Cubix Cube 2 is amazing mid-range spec’d device at a very affordable price-point. On November 11, the device will only retail via Lazada at PhP4,999 – a tad cheaper that other devices with almost – if not entirely – similar hardware specifications. The device offers several unique selling propositions that gadget buyers should take note of:

  • Amazing screen
  • 3500mAh Battery
  • 1.7Ghz octa-core processor

What do you think about this, guys? Is this something that you’re interested to purchase? Let us know in the comments section.
