I fell head over heels in love with ASUS ZenBook UX305LA! Upon its arrival, I couldn’t help but ‘fangirl’ over its jaw-dropping features. Shall we begin counting the reasons why this should be your next gadget girlfriend (or boyfriend!)? Start scrolling down in 3…2…1!
Firstly, this 15-millimeter slim beauty runs on Intel Core i7 with a 2.40GHz processor. I was able to use it as my secondary laptop at work, which is nice because I needed something faster and (more!) reliable. I ran more than five tabs on – wait for it – Internet Explorer and not once did I encounter any problem in switching from one window to another.
Another thing that makes this a standout is its13.3-inch IPS QHD+ screen. I watched the trailer of Me Before You several times because I couldn’t help but be mesmerized with its exceptional clarity (cue Zedd’s music!). If you were in my shoes, you would binge-watch your favorite shows over and over again because the screen offers rich, vibrant colors, making them look more realistic.
Probably a major reason why I keep on gushing over this notebook is that it’s made with 45Wh battery so I was able to use it for a few days without having the need to plug the charger in. Believe it or not, its battery life can last for about three days so you can bring it anywhere minus the hassle of carrying its charger.
Moving on, this Asus Zenbook UX305 boasts a classy look similar to that of Apple’s MacBook Air. The only thing that irks me is that fingerprints can be prominent when you have sweaty palms, and it’s never nice because you’d always have to wipe the grime away. During my quality time with this gadget, I was careful not to touch its cover for I was afraid I’d ruin its sleekness. Thank God it’s thin enough to be easily brought from one place to another.
Being a non-pro when it comes to laptops, I had to Google what Bang & Olufsen ICEPower is and how ‘powerful’ it sounds. “With ICEpower’s extensive audio expertise and technical know-how, we can optimize the sound in all types of mobile or multimedia applications and thereby achieve the best possible audio experience from the product,” it said on the ICEPower website. Hmm, while I could agree that ASUS Zenbook UX305 has every right to brag about its high-resolution screen, I believe its audio can be another story. I found it a bit lacking in terms of the sound/s resonated from the speakers which were located on both sides. Luckily, though, I was prepared with earphones so I didn’t have a hard time listening to music online.
Since we’re talking about what I don’t like about this, I’m going to add that the trackpad didn’t appeal to me – at all. #SorryNotSorry, but it was too difficult to click that I had to press my thumb harder for the cursor to react. For a writer like me, a good trackpad works especially when we’re chasing after deadlines. Dear ASUS, it would really help if you could produce a laptop like this but with a better trackpad.
So far, my experience with ASUS Zenbook UX305 is pretty great! Would I recommend it? Yes, definitely. You just have to buy a really good mouse to partner it with because, as I mentioned above, this notebook’s trackpad won’t do if you’ve got loads of work or games (hehe!) to finish. The ASUS Zenbook UX305 retails for P65,995.
