We may have missed the official launch of Vivo V3 Max in India last month, but we’re lucky enough to join yesterday’s event at Makati Shangri La.
The launch event was attended by Vivo executives, members of the media, bloggers and exclusive distributors of the latest smartphone brand in the Philippines, Vivo Mobile Philippines. Vivo is a Chinese technology company that specializes in designing, developing and manufacturing smartphones.
Vivo V3 Max was announced last April in India, and was teased that it will officially come to the Philippines in May 2016.
The device is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 octa-core processor. In comparison, its innards are quite similar with last year’s Snapdragon 810, but with an improved Cortex-A72 cores. Rob Triggs talked more about 652, 810 and 820 on his article at Android Authority.
It also features a fingerprint sensor, which allows users to unlock the phone (at .03 seconds in various angles); 13-megapixel rear camera with flash and phase detection technology; 8-megapixel front camera; 4GB RAM and 5.5-inch full HD display.
Its overall design is very much similar to the iPhone 6s sans a home button. Its back panel is made of aluminum alloy with zircon sand coating, which assures a smooth and premium feel. Its volume rockers and sleep/wake button are located on its right side, while its dual-sim slots are on its left. Speakers are found at the bottom of the device. Its 3.5mm headphone jack are conveniently placed on top of the device.
One of its celebrated features is its FunTouch OS that sits on top of Android 5.1. The OS reminds us of CynagenMod, but FunTouch OS 2.5 has its very distinct user interface and experience. Here’s a walk-through of FunTouch OS 2.5.
Availability and Price
The device may now be pre-ordered at major Vivo retailers in Metro Manila, Cebu and Davao for only PhP16,999. Customers who will pre-order the Vivo V3 will get a pair of Vivo headphones, Vivo tumbler and Vivo selfie stick on May 22.
