In its continuous support for the campaign against crimes, leading telecommunications providers Smart and PLDT has provided Internet connectivity and text platform for the Text Bato hotline service of the Philippine National Police.
For those who don’t know yet, Text Bato is a project of the PNP’s Community Relations group which allows anyone with a mobile phone capable of texting, to report crime incidents or law enforcement concerns, directly to the PNP Chief Ronald “Bato” De La Rosa.
It’s pretty simple. All you have to do is key in BATO (space) your message then send it to 7444-2286. You will then receive a confirmation message with PNPBATO as its subject/name. The PNP will then verify if your claims are valid or not. Smart also gave Gen. La Rosa a device which he can use to view incoming messages,
Furthermore, Smart has provided Internet connectivity to the TEXT BATO operations center. to improve its services and providing 24/ clock sport. The PNP chief was actually given a device which allows him to see incoming messages and directly reply to each one of them.
Text Bato message syntax for Smart subscribers:
– BATO (space) message then send to 7444-2286.
– P1 fee applies for every SMS.
