In an effort to innovate and hype up the use of Instagram, the company introduced live video on IG stories and disappearing photos and videos for groups and friends in Instagram Direct.

Launched last August 2, Instagram Stories is the company’s entry to the Snapchat-dominated disposable image-messaging type social media service. Today, over 100 million people use the new in-app service every day.

With Live Video on Instagram Stories, it revolutionizes content creation via the platform by being able to broadcast your stories as it happens. Here’s a quick overview of the new feature.

Whether or not this feature will cross-post on our respective Facebook accounts is still unknown. As of this writing, Live Video on IG is not yet available in the Philippines. According to Instagram, it will roll out globally over the next few weeks. We have reasons to believe that it will be available to Filipinos before Christmas.

The other new feature for Instagram Direct is disappearing photos and videos. Borrowed from IG Stories, this feature basically puts such mechanic to Instagram Direct. The latter has evolved since it was launched in 2013. It catapulted its user base from 80 million to 300 million. With IG Direct, it allows users to keep in touch with their friends and family on Instagram.

If you want to know more about these 2 new features, check out Instagram’s Tumbler blog. As usual, we will keep you all posted on our social media channels once both features are out. Meanwhile, we encourage you to subscribe and follow us on our Instagram, and watch out for our posts and live videos (soon!).
