Vivo is once again geared to rock the smartphone world with the launch of their first entry in the battle of the selfie kings, the Vivo V5.
The V5’s design involves a slim metal frame with a 2.5d curved glass covering the display. The soft curves and the metallic finish makes the phone feel very premium and sturdy.
The V5 is the first smartphone to pack a groundbreaking 20MP Front Facing camera which uses a Sony IMX376 sensor with f/2.0 aperture, and is complimented by a soft light flash to illuminate subjects and ensure excellent selfies in any condition, a 5.5-inch 720p display, an MT6750 Octa-core processor, 4GB of RAM, 32GB of Internal Storage, a 16MP rear camera, an AK4376 dedicated Hi-Fi audio chip for superb sound quality, a lightning fast fingerprint sensor which unlocks the device in 0.2 seconds, and a 3000mAh battery.
In terms of software and features, the V5 runs on Android Marshmallow out of the box, and carries nifty features such as Eye Protection Mode, which filters out blue light to ease the stress to your eyes, Hi-Fi music courtesy of the dedicated audio chip, Smart Split 2.0, which allows you to read incoming messages on one half of the screen while doing another task (ex: Watching a movie) on the other (Now supports more apps), and fast charging.
As if the V5 wasn’t already amazing enough, the company also gave a glimpse of an upcoming device, the V5 Plus, which is an enhanced, beefier version of the V5. Not much details were revealed, but it is confirmed that it will be equipped with Gorilla Glass 5 protection, a 5.5-inch Full HD display, and take note of this, a 20MP dual front facing camera. Hopefully, more details will be revealed soon.
To cap things off, Vivo unveiled its newest product ambassador, none other than Golden State Warriors’ point guard Stephen Curry, who expressed his thanks for being part of the brand and hopes to contribute to Vivo’s plans here in the country.
The Vivo V5 plus is set to officially arrive in PH soon. The V5 on the other hand, is already available for pre-order starting Nov. 23, and will be officially available in Vivo concept stores and major retailers nationwide on Nov. 26, for PhP 12,990.
