At its launch event earlier this morning, MyPhone introduced a device which aims to bring a new kind of experience for everyone. Meet the SuperD D1, a mid-range device which not only sports decent specs, but is also capable of serving 3D content to your eyes, without the need for any peripherals such as 3D glasses.
The design of the D1 consists of a metal back, and a 5.5-inch Full HD display with Gorilla Glass 3 protection. The back in particular, reminds me of Xiaomi’s Redmi Note series, though in this case, the sides are slightly curved. The phone does feel very solid, well-built, and also easy to get a good grip on.
At the heart of the D1 is a MediaTek MT6750T Octa-Core processor, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage, and a 3000mAh battery. What’s also interesting about this device is the addition of a dedicated graphics chip for 3D and VR which works hand in hand with the Mali T860 GPU. The D1 runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box.
In the imaging department, the D1 sports a 13MP rear camera and an 8MP front camera for selfies. For viewing 3D content, a second lens has been added in front, which is used solely for eye tracking. D1 allows you to watch any 3D content without the need for 3D glasses provided that you use the included 3DVR Player app.
The SuperD D1 comes in Champagne Gold and Galaxy Silver and as a special promo, the first 1000 customers to purchase the phone will also get a free VR Zero headset.
The original SRP of the D1 is PhP11,999, but it will be on sale in Lazada when it becomes available on January 30 at a discounted price of PhP9,999. You’ll also be able to purchase the device from MyPhone’s O-Shop.
