Samsung’s team was radiating with different aura earlier during the launch of this year’s Galaxy A5 and A7. They had this sense of new vitality, urge to be different, and positive attitude to take on new challenges this 2017. What a way to kick off the new year for the brand, and I, for one, am happy to see them fly this year.
Z Hostel’s roof deck was transformed to an abyss full of plants, water and beautiful people. It was a perfect yet different setting to launch 2 phones with premium features and build but at an affordable price point.
The new Galaxy A devices are available in 5.2 and 5.7 screen variants, and in metal frame and 3D glass black construction. Both devices are available in 2 colors – Black Sky and Gold Sand. The more premium and bigger variant, the Galaxy A7, is also available in Blue Mist, a color exclusive to the said variant.
The addition of IP68 certification, which is normally found on Samsung’s flagship devices, is definitely one of the best reasons to buy either the A5 and A7. Also, the radical change from having a hybrid SIM-tray to being able to accommodate 2 SIMs and 1 microSD is another impressive feature of the device. Wall-huggers will also be happy to know that these 2 devices are packed with 3,000mAh (Galaxy A5) and 3,600mAh batteries, which should be enough to get it running for a day at moderate usage.
Both devices are almost identical in terms of specifications except for its size and battery capacity. If you want to geek out and check out the full specifications, you may refer to the table below.

Samsung is positioning these devices to the mid-range market. The Galaxy A5 is available at PhP19,990, while the Galaxy A7 is just PhP23,990. Both devices will be available at Lazada starting January 14, 2017.
