When you have a number of devices at hand, it’s very important to keep all of them charged in one go. Moreso when you have a limited number of outlets to work with.
AUKEY aims to address this issue with its lineup of wall chargers. Design for convenience, performance, and safety, these products are fitted with technologies that make them ideal for those who just want to plug in their devices and just go on without worries.
We got our hands on their 6-Port USB Charging Station, which has two dedicated Quick Charge 3.0 Ports, and here’s what we think.
There isn’t really anything fancy about the packaging. You get a clear view of the ports from the side of the box, and inside, you get the usual manuals, and a MicroUSB cable.
The AUKEY 6-Port USB Charging Station is an extremely compact device which should fit nicely into any small pouch. Each port is color-coded, to easily distunguish the AiO ports from the Quick Charge 3.0 ones. There’s also an LED light beside the AiPower label on the side, to indicate when the device is ON. There are no switches to play with here. All you have to do is plug it in, and it’s good to go. I think they could’ve placed indicators on the ports themselves, but perhaps it was to keep the cost at bay.
AUKEY promotes various technologies fitted in their products. The AiPower Adapative Charging Technology for example, is claimed to intelligently supply only the right amount of power to your devices (up to 2.4A per Ai USB Port). The AiPower USB Port is also designed to provide the safest rate of recharge for all your devices.
We tested several devices to see whether there’s a variation in charging times using their original chargers, or if there are any irregularities during operation such as excessive heating etc., and here are the results:
|Device||Battery||Default Charger||AUKEY 6-Port USB Charging Station|
|ASUS Zenfone 3 5.5||3,000mAh||2 Hours||2 Hours|
|ASUS Zenfone 3 Max 5.2||4,130mAh||3.5 Hours||3.5 Hours|
|Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime||2,600mAh||2.5 Hours||2.5 Hours|
We will include additional device compatible with Quick Charge 3.0 (LG G6) within the week.
As you’ve noticed, the charging times aren’t really that faster when using the AUKEY Wall Charger. That being said, I didn’t run into any issues while using it. I even left my Zenfone 3 to charge overnight, took it out the morning after, no problems.
What I particularly liked about this product though, is the convenience that it brings. You basically have 6 charging ports that you can use, at the cost of just one outlet. Unfortunately, we’ll never really know whether all those technologies mentioned above were really working, but judging from how this device performed, it looks like they did.
The AUKEY 6-Port USB Charging Station is for anyone who wants a fast and safe charging solution for multiple devices. The small form factor makes it easy to carry the device around, and having 6 charging ports while using only 1 socket is extremely convenient. The Quick Charge 3.0 ports are also a big plus, giving you access to lighting fast charging when you need it.
The AiPower Adaptive Charging Technology ensures that your devices are charging with the exact amount of power that they need, while EntireProtect keeps your devices from over charging, overheating, short circuit, and excessive current. Giving you the freedom to do what you have to do, without having to worry about your gear.
At PhP3,149 though, I’m sure there’ll be people who will think that it’s quite expensive for being a charger. But for the quality and the convenience that it brings, I’d say it’s worth it (Unless of course, you only have 1 device to use with it or you have enough wall sockets at home).
