This just got us all pumped when we saw this on our feed this morning. After weeks of teasing, DJI just announced their first mini drone that has all DJI the signature technologies.

DJI Spark 1Priced at $499, DJI Spark is infused with all the needed features for newbie to pro drone pilot so you can take amazing aerial shots. For starters, the new drone can flight up to a maximum of 16 mins at full charge, and can fly up to 2 kilometers. Yes, this drone can fly from the center of SM Mall of Asia to Sofitel at 50km/h.

DJI Spark 6One of the unique features of the drone is Quick Launch. With its proprietary technology, FareAware, Spark takes off and hovers in place after recognizing the face of the user. Damn, take our money. It can easily be controlled with hand gestures (OMG, yes!), remote control control or even a mobile device.

After syching photos and videos taken using the drone to the mobile phone, users can easily create videos with a few taps via its DJI mobile application. Sharing to your favorite social media platforms is easy to with DJI Go 4.

Intelligent modes are available on the drone like QuickShot, ActiveTrack, TapFly and Gesture. QuickShot has template moves available, and may be selected at the user’s whim. It may ascend with the camera pointing downward, fly backward and upward, circle around the subject and fly upward and spiral around the subject. With ActiveTrack, the drone will trace and profile the subject to intelligently take creative aerial shots.

This isn’t just a drone though. It is installed with a 1/2.3″ CMOS sensor and mechanical gimbal, which make sure that you take high quality shots. For comparison, a 1/2.3″ sensor is bigger than iPhone 7’s 1/3″ sensor.  While it doesn’t take 4K videos, it can take sabilized full HD videos and stills up to 12MP.

There are even shooting modes available: Pano and ShallowFocus. Pano mode, just like the name implies, takes a horizontal or vertical panoramic shots. ShallowFocus on the other hand takes an artificial bokeh right after focusing on the subject. (This got me really pumped up!)

DJI Spark 2Now this drone isn’t a lowly toy drone. It can fly up to 50km/h in Sport Mode. It also has pre-installed flight safety features like FlightAutonomy, Return to Home, Flight Protection and Intelligent Battery.

As earlier stated, estimated shipping date for those who will be pre-ordering the drone is June 15, 2017.  You may get the DJI Spark for $499 for the basic pack, or $699 for the Fly More Combo, which includes Remote Control, 2 additional propeller, Propeller Guards, 1 extra battery, 1 battery charger, 1 power cable, battery charing hub and a shoulder bag.
