You know we’re fond of games too right? From checking out the latest available gaming tech to streaming the games we love and down to sponsoring an E-sports team for an Overwatch tournament, gaming has now become pleasantly intertwined with the blog.
And, as gamers, we just don’t play what’s out there. We also like the hype that comes with the game years before its release. We go to youtube and watch these bombastic reveals in the biggest game conventions and drool. So it’s fair to say that we were always pining to go to one and experience the excitement.
So after weekends of marathon gaming sessions and discussions on what content we would like to write about, it was an easy decision for us. As gamers, we’ve got to pack our bags and go to ground-zero of games: that’s the Tokyo Game Show (TGS).
Aside from watching all the big reveals and swooning over the upcoming games we’ve come to know those game conventions also showcase the latest in gaming hardware. Here’s a list of what we’re expecting in the TGS this September 21-25.
More VR
With Sony selling close to a million units of its PS VR and developments in the mobile front pushing VR to the masses, VR will most likely be the star of the show. Though seeing new VR hardware is a longshot given the current sales streak of the current generation, we expect VR games, peripherals and applications to expand the experience.
More PS4 Pro enhanced Games
We’re going to get our hands on demo games that push the limits of the PS4 Pro. God of War will surely be one of them as well as other exclusives like Horizon Zero Dawn: Frozen Wilds and Marvel’s Spider Man.
Nintendo Switch exclusives come out swinging.
The Switch and its innovative way of gaming-on-the-go will make you a kid again. A couple of exclusives on top of Zelda and Mario games will finally make iffy consumers pull the trigger.
Indie innovation
The big game developers do have the massive stage but this doesn’t mean the small players can’t share the limelight. There’s a lot of love in game conventions for independent developers. And, hey it’s Japan where the craziest game ideas take flight.
Emergence of non-traditional and traditional games
Japan has a super-aging population problem, with more deaths occurring than newborns annually. And with it comes the challenge of making the senior members of society remain active. Games in the show will not only focus on the mainstream gamers as the main market but will elevate the consciousness of games as brain training tools.
