The National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) conducted Internet speed tests in all Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3) stations through OOKLA last month on July 6 to 7 for its EDSA Free Wi-Fi Project.
The tests showed average download and upload speeds of 156.6Mbps and 135.8Mbps, respectively. Ortigas station has the fastest download speed of 325.48 Mbps. And Magallanes has the highest upload speed at 310.57 Mbps.
In another report, the total number of commuters able to connect to the EDSA Free Wi-Fi were 230,000 of the 444,044 daily MRT-3 commuters. The report indicated that heavy usage of the Internet were in the following MRT-3 stations: Taft Avenue, North Avenue, Cubao, Ayala, Shaw Boulevard and Boni Avenue.
