To start off, both phones are powered by the Snapdragon 835 processor, and are among the first handsets to launch with Android 8.0 Oreo. Both also feature Sony’s MotionEye Camera, which is composed of a 19MP sensor equipped with Predictive Capture, which takes a picture just before you actually press the shutter button.

The XZ1 has a feature called 3D scanning mode, which allows the camera to scan an object and create an image for 3D printing and for sharing on social media. The plan is to actually integrate this with games, making it possible to create 3D avatars of yourself.

Overseas, the Sony Xperia XA1 will be available on September 19 with an SRP of $699.99. The compact is expected to arrive on October 4 for $599.99.
