Organized by the Computer Entertainment Supplier’s Association along with Nikkei Business Publications, this year’s Tokyo Game Show was a massive hit, garnering an attendance of more than 250,000 visitors over four days!
With a motto “Reality Unlocked”, TGS 2017 saw a near record 609 exhibitors (317 of which are foreign). Numerous new titles were released, along with services from various genres and platforms such as home game consoles, smartphones, and PCs.
One of this year’s main attraction was the renewed e-Sports event called “e-Sports X”, which drew the attention of both foreign and local visitors. The e-Sports movement is on the rise, with “The Potential of e-Sports in Japan” as part of the keynote address.
Companies also engaged in various B2B activities during the event, with 1,250 companies registered for the business matching system “Asia Business Gateway” compared to 1,149 companies last year. This signifies the importance of TGS as a hub, and an international exhibition that showcases what is happening in Asia to the rest of the world.
The next Tokyo Game Show will be held on September 20, 2018 to September 23, 2018 at Makuhari Messe.
