The world leader in advanced memory technology just announced a whopping 30.72 terabyte (TB) Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) Solid State Drive (SSD) – the PM1643.  This model has double the capacity of the previously announced 15.36TB model.Samsung PM1643 - 1

The PM1643 is made possible by building stacked layers of the new 512GB V-NAND chips. This drive can have staggering read and write speeds of up to 2,100 MB/s.

Samsung manufactured initial quantities of the 30.72TB SSDs in January and according to a source, there have been plans of expanding this lineup this year with the 15.36TB, 7.68TB, 3.84TB, 1.92TB, 960GB and 800GB versions. Samsung promises to meet the wide range needs in storage by the different sectors in the world – government, financial services, education, business services.
