Nissan Philippines welcomed members of the international and local media in Clark, Philippines, for the Regional World Premiere of the new Terra.
As the descendant of Patrol, Nissan Terra is the first SUV in the mid-sized segment for Nissan in the Philippines. The new mid-sized SUV addresses the growing need of Filipinos for a vehicle that can take on various terrains.
The launch of the new Terra brings with it a statement of Nissan’s strong business in the country. As Vincent Wijnen, Nissan’s Head of Marketing and Sales for Asia, said in an interview, the company’s and country’s undeniable growth are strong indicators to launch a segment that’s ready to meet the demands of Filipinos.
According to Ramesh Narasimhan, President and Managing Director of Nissan Philippines, “Over 60 years of SUV heritage went into the development of the Nissan Terra.” He also added that the new “Nissan Terra is designed to give you the confidence to take your family on exceptional urban and outdoor adventures by providing a no-compromise package.”
We looked at the specifications of its base model and we find it quite full packed at a very good price point of PhP1.499M. Its overall size is bigger, but just as tall as the Fortuner 2.4G DSL M/T. It is powered by a YD25 DDTi engine (Euro 4 compliant), with Inline-4 Cylinder DOHC and Variable Turbocharger (VGS) with Intercooler.
Its 4×4 variants feature a 4WD-Diff lock system coupled with Hill Descent Control and HIll Start Assist, which allow drivers to have more control over the wheels during 4×4 situations.

Nissan also hacked in Nissan Intelligent Mobility Technologies in the new Nissan Terra. This new feature makes that mid-sized SUV smart and safe enough for the driver and passengers. These technologies include Lane Departure Warning, Blind Spot Warning and Intelligent Around View Monitor with Moving Object Detection.
The Nissan Terra can fit up to seven people. Nissan also included a convenient way of letting passengers get in and out of the vehicle with a one-touch remote fold and tumble seats for its 2.5 VL variants.
The company also made sure that the new Nissan Terra is ready for imminent floods as it has the highest ground clearance in its class – 225mm. Fortuner 2.4 G DSL M/T and Mitsubishi Montero Sport GLX 2.4 4×2 M/T have a ground clearance of 193mm and 218mm respectively.
The new Nissan Terra may be reserved starting June 1, 2018 at any Nissan dealership nationwide. It will be available officially by August 20, 2018.
