On its grand event for Computex 2018, ASUS unveiled the latest iteration of its high-end consumer notebook, the Zenbook Pro 2018, which now comes with Intel’s 8th Gen processor, and take note, a touchpad that also works as a multi-purpose secondary screen.
The ZenBook Pro 2018 still bears the company’s signature design that’s found on its Zenfone series. The device comes in two variants -the 15.6-inch model has a 4K UHD display, and is powered by a Core i9 hexa-core chip, while the latter has a Core i7 quad-core processor under the hood. Both can have up to 16GB of DDR4 RAM, and up to a 1TB PCIe x4 SSD.
In terms of graphics, the 14-inch model has an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050, Max-Q. That means that the laptop can remain slim while still hosting a very capable graphics card for your performance cravings. The larger one on the other hand, has an even more powerful GTX 1050Ti.
Unlike an ordinary TouchPad, the ScreenPad is in fact, a 5.5-inch FHD Panel, and can now work as an extension of your display, where you can drag and drop a window. It also works as a calculator interface, a music player, and more.
The larger model also comes with Thunderbolt 3 support. That means you can connect an external graphics card dock such as the XG Station Pro, to significantly improve the device’s capability.
