MobileMINDS, a Filipino team won first runner-up in the Epson Regional App Challenge 2018 for their ‘Rover Fieldmate’ app. Conceptualized by Jason Russ Unson and Miguel Luis Ting, it adds a digital touch to processes in the laundry business, from pick up to delivery. Through the use of a mobile receipt printer, the app can issue receipts and tags for labeling of laundry for its customers.
The Epson Regional App Challenge aims to provide an avenue for developers to create innovative mobile POS solutions within the Independent Software Vendor community, as well as to spread awareness and increase interest in mPOS products.
A total of 56 teams from SEA participated in the event, with five finalists from Indonesia, Philippines and Malaysia. They were selected to create an app that involves the use of a receipt printer, and that would reduce the operation cost of business and improve productivity.
The grand winner, ‘Wartal’ from Indonesia, was developed by Lazuardi Widya Adyafora and Ibnu Isnaini Hakim, and was designed for Indonesian small family warung shops, to directly connect with manufacturers, help in managing deliveries of goods, and track customer transactions. Using a mobile receipt printer, it enables the shop to issue receipts by scanning a purchased item.
The winners were announced during a grand ceremony, and were given cash prizes, as well as an Epson Moverio BT-300 Smartglasses.
