Vivo posted a cryptic message in its social media pages, hinting of the next smartphone that it’ll be launching for the Philippine market. The photo showed a colored thumbprint, with the hashtag #UnlockingSoon, along with the caption “Unlock the future with a single touch.”
Ever since its launch in the Philippines in 2016, Vivo has been introducing cutting-edge smartphone features to the selfie-loving Filipino consumers. The V5 Plus for example, was the first to have a 20MP dual front-facing camera, while the V7 and V7+both had 24MP front shooters.
If you’ll recall, Vivo is the first brand in the world to introduce an in-display fingerprint scanner, which was showcased during CES 2018. If you think about it, the caption actually matches. Perhaps its next smartphone will also have this technology?
Aside from developing the selfie camera, the company has also paid attention to the need for bigger displays. Earlier this year, it unveiled its APEX™ concept phone, which had a near 100% screen-to-body ratio.
Vivo’s current flagship is the V9, which boasts a 24MP AI selfie camera, along with dual 16MP + 5MP rear cameras, and a 6.3-inch FullView display, delivering a 90% screen-to-body ratio.
