OPPO has gone back to the mid-range segment with its newest creation, the R17. But don’t take this one lightly, as it does have a number of interesting features that are really worth a look – want to start? the new Snapdragon 670.

Got your attention right? yes, you’ve read it correctly. This new masterpiece from OPPO sports Qualcomm’s newest mid-range chip that’s built on a 10 nm process, and the successor to the very capable Snapdragon 660. It has a whopping 8GB of RAM, and 128 GB of on-board storage, expandable with a microSD card. All content is viewed in a 6.4-inch AMOLED display, with Gorilla Glass 6 protection. The device also sports an in-display fingerprint scanner.

While the exact specs of its dual rear cameras weren’t revealed, OPPO says that it can adapt to up to 800 scenes, thanks to its AI capabilities. The 25MP front shooter is the same one that you’ll find on the F7, which means it’s likely that it has OPPO’s AI Beauty Technology 2.0 or perhaps even an improved version.

The R17 runs on ColorOS 5.2 on top of Android 8.1 Oreo, and packs a 3,500mAh battery with VOOC Flash Charge Technology. There’s no official pricing just yet, but the phone is set to go on a flash sale in China this August 18.
