We first knew Tronsmart as a sole provider for our battery needs and other gadget essentials. With different awesome gadgets announced this year, Tronsmart also updated their roster by adding their first wireless earbuds, the Spunky Buds. The name seems comical but upon using it for quite some time now, we can say that this is the perfect bang-for-the-buck wireless earbuds for someone who runs a lot, hears their favorite music or even watches movie from their devices. This is our review of the Tronsmart Spunky Buds.
Build and Features
The Tronsmart Spunky Buds comes with an enclosed capsule, which is actually its charging case that can be pushed to open. The charging case feels solid but the materials are definitely made from hard plastic. The case also has a 470mAh battery and from my experience, can charge the pair thrice. The capsule has four blue battery light indicators which can be found at the bottom and the microUSB charging port is at right side.
When pushed open, you’ll find the pair of Spunky Buds. The earbuds look techy and modern thanks to its cool shiny tile-shaped design. You’ll also find the ear support that perfectly secures the Spunky Buds and true enough, they stay in place, even when running.
The Spunky Buds is also IPX5 certified which means they can be used in the rain and are also protected from your sweat during a workout.
The Spunky Buds also feature Gesture Control. When someone is calling you, just tap the left earbud once, then your call will be answered. (Note: You’ll only hear the caller from the left earbud, in which the microphone is also located) When listening to your favorite music, tap twice to pause and tap thrice for the next track.
Seamless Pairing via Bluetooth 4.2
The Spunky Buds has an auto-connect feature which helps you reduce the hustle of connecting and disconnecting the earbuds. Once you activate Bluetooth from your device, just remove the Spunky Buds from its capsule then you’ll hear from its earpiece whether it is the left channel or right and it will also tell you when it is already connected to your device. It uses Bluetooth 4.2, that’s why it has more supported devices.
Hi-Fi Stereo Sound
In terms of sound quality, the Spunky Buds is definitely great for its price tag of Php2,800. The bass is a little bit far from what I expected and from my personal standpoint, the depth of the bass doesn’t satisfy my music needs. However, if you maximize the volume of the earbuds, it get more noticeable and you’ll hear the clear reverberations of the treble and tone.
Despite being budget earbuds, music from streaming services such as Spotify and Deezer also sounds well on on the Spunky Buds. I’ve also used them to watch movies from my smartphone. Unfortunately, there’s a noticeable delay in audio, which kind of ruins the experience.
