The GL704 SCAR Edition made its debut back in Gamescom 2018, alongside the GX531 (Zephyrus S), and is basically a laptop with a huge 17.3-inch display with 144Hz refresh rate, packed into a 15.7-inch chassis. That means you get smooth and fluid visuals, without sacrificing portability.

Stacked with features for gaming versatility

GL704 SCAR 2 05 LightUnder the hood is an Intel Core i7-8750H, and an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 graphics card.  Thanks to Intel’s 802.11ac Wave 2 Wi-Fi, you can download your games via a wireless connection as fast as if you were on a wired one. For storage, it houses an M.2 NVMe SSD, along with an optional 1TB SSHD.

Smaller bezel for more impressive visuals

GL704 SCAR 2 03 LightThe GL704 SCAR is the first 17.3-inch laptop that’s under 400mm wide,  thanks to the super-narrow bezels surrounding the display on three sides, with borders that are also 50% narrower than those found on other 17-inch gaming laptops on the market.

Designed for battle, and customizable with AURA Sync RGB lighting

GL704 SCAR 2 04 LightGL704 SCAR is designed with FPS gaming in mind, and hosts contrasting Kevlar and camouflage textures, which were created with an eight-stage IMR process.

With AURA Sync, RGB lighting can be customized across seven zones – four on the keyboard, two within the light bar stretching across the chin, and lastly, on the ROG logo, located on the lid. The lights can also be synchronized with compatible peripherals, such as the Strix Fusion 700 headset, and the Gladius II Origin Mouse.

The keyboard uses a desktop-style layout, which utilizes a wider space bar and separated blocks of function keys, making it easier to execute shortcuts. The switches are rated for 20 million key presses, and Overstroke technology delivers better responsiveness.

Pricing and Availability

The ASUS ROG Strix GL704 SCAR Edition will retail for PHP 114,995 and will be available on October 2018 in all ROG stores and authorized resellers nationwide.
