Last August, ASUS Republic of Gamers unleashed a new variant of its Zephyrus gaming laptop, which was at its time, deemed as the slimmest in the world. The new Zephyrus S took the crown. At just 14.95~15.75mm thin, it’s 12% slimmer than the original. and utilizes an all-metal chassis made from a mix of aluminium and magnesium alloy, achieving a perfect balance of weight and durability.
Powerful visuals achieved with a super-narrow-bezel display
The Zephyrus S boasts a 15.6-inch display that’s squeezed into a 14.2-inch chassis, augmented with slimmer bezels that adds to the immersive experience. It also features 144Hz refresh rate, compared to 120Hz on the original Zephyrus. The 3ms response time ensures reduced blurring and ghosting. It also covers 100% of the sRGB gamut, giving you rich colors, and its wide-viewing angles prevent the picture from appearing washed out when viewing in split screen.
Proprietary cooling to ensure optimal performance
The Active Aerodynamic System returns with the Zephyrus S. Now, it draws in more cool air through a special vent that opens underneath the chassis when the lid is lifted. In this case, the AAS intake stretches across the entire back of the laptop, which improves airflow by up to 22% when compared to traditional designs. Additional airflow also comes from the keyboard which uses a forward layout to make room for additional cooling.
Customization with RGB lighting through Aura Sync
Customizable RGB lighting lets you match the lighting effects or color scheme to the game that you’re playing. The keyboard is composed of four independently illuminated zones, while additional LEDs create a subtle glow inside the AAS vent. With Aura Sync, you can synchronize the effects with compatible peripherals, making it easier to personalize your setup with just a few clicks.
Armoury Crate — the new unified control center
ROG Game Center is now Armoury Crate, a utility that gives you quick access to essential functions: System settings, Aura Sync Lighting, and other options, which can be adjusted on the fly. You can even set up to four custom profiles, and utilize the mobile dashboard for Android or iOS.
Keyboard-forward layout
The keyboard on the Zephyrus S isn’t just designed for better cooling, but is also made to allow for a comfortable desktop-like resting position. In addition, Overstroke technology improves responsiveness, giving you that bit of edge over your opponents. The switches are rated for 20 million key presses, and N-key rollover ensures that each press registers precisely, regardless of how many keys are pressed at the same time.
