Huawei Mate 20 Pro is more than just a performance and gaming powerhouse. It also features a wealth of features that prove to be the next smartphone camera of photography enthusiasts and professionals. While it won’t replace your professional camera, Huawei made it sure that the phone would be enough for you to take during holidays.

First, let me show you the camera technologies this phone has:

I took the Huawei Mate 20 Pro to Nueva Ecija during the holidays. Nueva Ecija is the rice granary of the Philippines, but it’s also home to our house in Cabanatuan where you’ll find my dad’s garden. He spends most of his time in the garden when he’s not at work, and while I was there, I took the time to appreciate its beauty.

Let me take you to some of the moments I captured using the Huawei Mate 20 Pro. All photos below are shot with AI Master Mode enabled.

Before traveling to Nueva Ecija, we visited Manila Memorial to pay respects to my wife’s parents. As the night falls, I took the opportunity to take wide-angle shots using the phone’s 24mm lens. I discovered that the wide-angle lens is also best used on night mode. Using AI technology, the phone automatically increased the level of saturation and contrast while enlargening the aperture and increasing ISO levels. The featured photo in the below clearly shows the effect of the AI Night Mode. Take note that the camera took 5 seconds to take that photo without using a tripod.

The following day, we packed our bags and headed to Nueva Ecija. Upon our arrival at my parent’s house in Cabanatuan City, I noticed that Christmas decorations are already up in my dad’s garden. So, as expected, I took out my Mate 20 Pro and snapped away!

I love my dad’s garden. It’s his way of expressing his love of nature, and what better way of showing my appreciation of his work than taking a photo of his collection of faura in macro photography. Huawei Mate 20 Pro. The wide-angle lens of the smartphone actually doubles as something you can use for macro photography. I fired up the flash in continuous mode, looked for right candidates and took photos of these plants. The photos look surreal and almost out of this world.

I was using the Huawei Mate 20 Pro the whole time I was in Nueva Ecija. Its camera exceeded my expectations, and I can’t wait to share more of my photos on my Instagram account with #HuaweiMate20Pro.

However, Huawei Mate 20 Pro wasn’t the only phone I took with me in the province. Inside my left pocket was the iPhone XS Max, which I also used to take some photos! It’s a stunner too, but does it take beter photos than Mate 20 Pro? Catch our next post about our full comparison of the Huawei latest smartphone and Apple most premium iPhone yet.
