After months of rumors, leaks, renders, and so forth, Samsung has finally unveiled its latest flagships during its Unpacked event in San Francisco, USA. And this time, it’s is more special than ever, as the company celebrates the 10th year of its Galaxy device. At the helm is the most premium and feature-packed of them all, the Samsung Galaxy S10+.

A New Take on Design

samsung galaxy s10 25The first thing that you’ll probably notice about this device is that tiny punch hole at the upper right.. or for the S10+ it’s there’s actually two of them. Yep. That’s because its front cameras are in there. And mind you it can shoot 4K selfies, and has OIS.

samsung galaxy s10 21The bezels are as thin as they can go, and you get that signature Samsung display, which they now call Infinity-O display, which gives the phone an astonishing 90% screen-to-body ratio. And this isn’t using just any AMOLED screen, but it’s what Samsung calls Dynamic AMOLED screen, which supports HDR10+, is more color-accurate, and is more gentle to the eyes.

Next-Gen Performance

samsung galaxy s10 16The Galaxy S10+ is powered by the new Exynos 9820 octa, which offers up to 33% improvement in CPU performance, up to 37% improvement in GPU performance, and yet consumes up to 15% less power compared to the Exynos 9810 in the S9. It comes with 8GB or hold your breath… 12GB of RAM, and up to 1TB of storage which you can even add to, with a microSD card.

A Triple Camera Setup that’s More Intelligent Than Ever

samsung galaxy s10 3Samsung has also made improvements to the optics and equipped the S10+ with a triple camera setup – First, a standard wide-angle lens with dual pixel auto-focus, optical image stabilization, and Dual Aperture, which lets you to switch from an aperture of f/1.5 and f/2.4 depending on the lighting condition, second, a telephoto camera with 2X optical zoom, and lastly, a super-wide angle camera that gives you 123° field of view.

samsung galaxy s10 2The cameras on the S10+ also feature Intelligent Scene Recognition, which can now recognize 30 scene categories and boasts Local Tone Mapping to improve highlights and shadows. The device runs on Samsung’s One UI, which focuses on being clutter-free, as well as comfortable one-handed operation.

A World’s First

samsung galaxy s10 15The Galaxy S10+ along with the S10, are the world’s first smartphones equipped with an Ultrasonic Fingerprint Scanner, which learns and recognizes the 3D characteristics of your fingerprint, making it less-prone to spoofing. The sensor is also designed to work well with humidity, sunlight, and with other changes in ambient temperature.

Reverse Wireless Charging

To improve battery life, the device automatically enables (and disables) its AI Battery Saving feature, depending on what you’re doing. It also optimizes battery usage depending on which apps are open. The Galaxy S10+ has a 4,100mAh battery and is now capable of charging compatible devices just by simply putting them against the phone.

Pricing, Availability, Pre-Order

samsung galaxy s10 17The Samsung Galaxy S10+ comes in four colors: Prism White, Prism Black, Prism Green and will retail for a starting price of PhP55,990. The Limited Edition Ceramic White Version with 12GB of RAM and 1TB of storage will only be available via pre-order with a price of PhP89,990.
