We’ve seen how so many brands attempted to break barriers to achieve some by a motorized popup camera, and some with a sliding mechanism.
Samsung, on the other hand, has done the same with its punch hole solution. But they aren’t stopping there. The Korean Tech Giant has now created a device which does not only have a camera that pops-up, but also rotates! Meet the Samsung Galaxy A80.
The Galaxy A80 is the first to have the company’s New Infinity Display. To be exact, 6.7-inches of real estate for your content at FHD+ resolution, plus an on-screen fingerprint scanner. Under the hood is an undisclosed octa-core processor (presumably an Exynos variant), along with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage.
Samsung has opted to remove the microSD card slot for this model – perhaps a design limitation. They’ve also gotten rid of the headphone jack, which is uncommon in a mid-range device.
Where it gets really interesting is in the camera department. You see, the A80 has only one set of cameras, which, thanks to the rotating mechanism, gives you the same optical prowess when used as either a front or a rear snapper. Samsung did not disclose how many times the mechanism has been tested, but they do guarantee that it should last for a long time.
Anyway, the rotating mechanism houses a 48MP main camera, an 8MP ultra-wide camera, and a 3D depth sensor. They’ve added a new feature called Super Steady Video mode, which supposedly minimizes shake in videos, and like the A70, It also has a Scene Optimizer and Flaw Detection feature.
Bixby, Samsung’s own digital assistant, now monitors your app usage patterns, giving you access to features you need just when you need them. Samsung Knox, the company’s security platform, now allows the use of Samsung Pass to access apps and even websites through biometric authentication.
The device packs a 3,700mAh battery, and is capable of 25W fast-charging. The A80 can learn your usage patterns to optimize its power consumption.
