Update (1/10/2020): We reached out to ASUS regarding the schedule of release of Zenfone 6 in the Philippines. They said, “ASUS has chosen to focus on content creation and gaming in certain countries, included in this list is Philippines — where the gaming scene and creative scene have proven to be quite competitive.” This statement precludes the fate of Zenfone 6 in the Philippines, ASUS PH is officially not bringing this in the Philippines.
It’s been more than a year since the launch of Zenfone 5, and ASUS Philippines has been mum about the official launch of Zenfone 6 in the Philippines. Fortunately, we got the chance to interview one of ASUS top executives during today’s exclusive interview.
During our interview with Eric Chen, Corporate Vice President of ASUS, he confirmed that they will bring Zenfone 6 to the Philippines. We, however, take this with a grain of salt as plans may change along the way. Chen didn’t also explicitly say when they will bring it to the Philippines.
Launched last May 17, 2019, ASUS officially launched Zenfone 6 in Valencia, Spain. The Zenfone 6 boasts an all-new design, and sports a 6.4-inch Full HD+ display protected by Gorilla Glass 6. Under the hood is a Snapdragon 855, backed by up to 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB of UFS 2.1 storage, expandable with a microSD card. Its killer feature – flipping dual camera!
Zenfone 6 boasts a duo of shooters – a 48MP main camera, and a 13MP secondary snapper for wide angle shots. It’s capable of recording 4K/60fps videos (with EIS), even when used as the front shooters. ASUS also added HDR+ Enhanced, and a dedicated Night Mode.
We got the chance to try Zenfone 6 at Computex show floor, and we love it for its impressive build quality and super camera performance. ASUS sees the new camera mechanism as an ingenious way to maximize the quality of its camera sensors. The flip up camera compensates for having an inferior secondary camera.
