The Switch Lite was recently announced and we shared our thoughts about what we liked and didn’t like about it. With 1 rumor down the drain, the talks of a “Pro” version would be the next logical headline. Will it have this? Will it sport that? While everything is pure speculation at this point, we do have some things we want to see if and when a Pro version is released. Check our our wish list for a Pro version of the Nintendo Switch!
Better Screen Resolution
The Switch isn’t the most powerful console around. Nintendo knows that and they’ve never really competed with Sony and Microsoft on that front. With the prospect of a Switch Pro, having a screen (and internals) that can handle full 1080p (from 720p) would be a nice upgrade. Oh, and smaller bezels, please? Producing a larger unit to accommodate a bigger screen automatically kills off a lot of accessories, even the Joy-Cons, so just lessening the bezels would do.
Enhancements to Current Game Lineup
When the PS4 Pro and the Xbox One X came out, the current lineup of games enjoyed a resolution and frames boost that was simply fantastic. We’d love to see the games lineup of the Switch enjoy the same enhancements as well to take advantage of the improved power of a Pro system.
Same or Improved Battery Life
The Pro model will automatically entail higher power consumption so just retaining the same battery life would be great. If we can get around 20-30% improved battery life, by all means! I’m not expecting it, but it would be very much welcome.
Improved Joy-Cons
Quite a few things to fix here. First and most important, ensure that future Joy-Cons don’t experience drifting or ghost movements. Joy-Cons are quite expensive and it would be a damn shame to have to shell out loads of cash due to a design flaw. Second, how about an audio jack input for wired headsets similar to what the PS4 and Xbox controllers offer? Third, and probably the least important among the three, a proper D-pad please on the left Joy-Con?
Built in Wireless Audio Capability
C’mon Nintendo, don’t make us go through using those Bluetooth adaptors. Throw us a bone here and include the functionality in the console without having to use other peripherals. The Switch shines on the go and with almost every accessory being wireless, we’d love to use our wireless headsets as well!
Bigger Internal Memory
Needs no further explanation. 128GB would be fantastic but I won’t complain if we get even just 64GB.
Alternative Dock
I HATE taking my Switch out of its grip case just so that I can dock it. It’s a tedious process which can be easily solved by a few tweaks, or a new dock altogether. With a dock redesign, or at least an official first party dock with a lower profile, you can transition from docked to portable without having to swap out your case / covers! There are third party docks out there now but they could brick your console so it’s not quite the safest option.
We’d also love a couple of little improvements like a better kickstand that’s actually not the SD card cover, better speakers, etc. The list could go on and on but we’d totally be happy with the above list of improvements!
How’s your wish list looking compared to ours? Got anything else to add? Let us know if you’re looking forward to a beefier Switch model in the future!
